ABOUT ME


I come from a Figure Skating background, having specialized in ICE DANCING. To my credit I completed the GOLD Compulsary Dance Tests, GOLD Free-Dance Test and INTERNATIONAL GOLD Dance Tests; as well as NOVICE Free-Style Test and 7th Figure Test. I made the transition to ballroom at the end of my skating career. I trained in International Style Standard and International Latin as a student at the Bill Davies Ballroom Dancing Studio. I  competed as a Pro-Am student from pre-bronze all the way through Open Gold. My best credit is placing 4th in the USBC Pro-Am Latin Championship in 1984 with Stephen Stroud.

I turned Professional in 1985. As a  Professional I competed with several different partners and was a finialist in many competitions over the years. I have also competed with students in many events over the years with very successful results.

While no longer actively competing as a Professional couple, I still encourage Pro-Am competition to my students. The Pro-Am competition affords my students a chance to "be seen"  on the floor and provides for competition experience as well as exposure to other dancers who might be seeking a partner.

I have also found that I have a gift for putting dancers together to form partnerships. I have formed several successful Adult Amateur Competitive couples and am available to anyone who might be looking for a partner and needs information. I also do the same for children who might be looking to enter the competitive world of ballroom dancing.

My training programs have been very successful (formerly at Stepping Out Studio in NYC ) and am now available to ALL amateurs (YOUTH & ADULT) in the NY area for training. Please see my Amateur Competition Training (ACT (tm)) page.

TEACHING LOCATIONS


As an independent teacher I am available to teach at several locations in New York City. To detirmine where the lesson will take place will depend on the times and days that a lesson is booked and then which studios have avaialable rental space. I also do " House Calls".  Providing there is space in your house, I can come to you and teach you in the privacy of your own home.
